Atop the twelve-foot base of the former Lewis, Clark, and Sacajawea monument, amid rush hour traffic, we stood in loving embrace for two hours. We replaced egregious symbols of manifest destiny and its narrative of unbridled, violent expansion, with a narrative of collective care, feminine strength, embodied transformation, poetic justice, and radical presence.
