ARTIST STATEMENT

My artistic work is deeply engrained in my lived experience, with attention to the porous boundaries between 'art' and 'life.' I am interested in how form and meaning relate: the contingency of form and fluidity of meaning. I believe that if we begin with the premise that all things change, then we can embrace a multiplicity of meanings. We can accept a diversity of forms. We can readily believe in possibility. As I explore forms and their fundamental premise of change, I pay attention to both their ethics and aesthetics. I believe that what we choose matters. And I believe that what we choose can be beautiful.

Working with mixed-media, including performance, sound, prose, and film, I continuously explore new forms of expression to engage curiosities and generate more diverse and conscious ways of being. Because I embrace fluidity instead of finality, possibility instead of certainty, I offer my artistic work as seismographic impressions of the ever-changing dynamic we call life.
